When my kids aren’t helping me cook or bake in the kitchen, oftentimes I find them pretending to be little chefs and bakers in their play kitchen. As long as I can remember, my oldest daughter has wanted to open up pancake restaurant so she can cook for the whole family. Her passion for cooking at a young age has passed onto her little siblings and I just think it’s so adorable to watch them playing like they’re in charge of the kitchen!
One of the items they love playing with best is the Melissa & Doug Tiered Special Occasion Cake Play Food Set. My girls can’t resist the feminine charm of this cake with it’s pretty princess pink and white frosting, floral decoration pieces, and the bride and groom toppers! Whether it’s tea parties, a birthday party, or a wedding cake, it has yet to lose it’s kid appeal. I love that the cake pieces Velcro together so they don’t fall apart when they’ve put the cake together. The pieces are strong, sturdy, and very durable.
The serving tray and cake server makes it easy for them to “serve” a piece of cake. It has provided hours upon hours of play time fun since they can decorate it in so many different ways. It not only allows them to be creative, but also helps with problem solving skills as they put the cake together like a puzzle. The only draw back is that the paint does wear off a bit with play, but it hasn’t hindered my kids ability to fully enjoy this play food set. I still wouldn’t hesitate to buy this toy for my children as much as they play happily with it!
