Blizzie Slushie Maker Review And Giveaway!

One summer treat my kids go crazy for are slushies.  Now, I am not fond of letting them drink slushies very often because one year, my son had a cherry slushie and proceeded to halve an allergic reaction.  It gave us a good scare, but it turned out not to be harmful and he was fine within a couple hours.  Still, it left me apprehensive and hesitant to ever give my kids slushies ever again.  My instincts tell me it was most likely the red food coloring that attributed to the reaction.  I was then approached to review the Blizzie, a slushie maker that you can use your own liquids and doesn’t require using a special mix.  I was totally up for trying that!

The Blizzie Slushie Maker Kit comes with a Blizzie shaker cup with cap, 3 reusable freezer cupes, and a matching spoon/straw.  To get started, you want to throw those Magic Freezer Cubes into the freezer until they are frozen solid.  You fill your cold beverage of choice up to line marking on the inside of the cup and screw the cap on.  Then, this is where the “magic” begins!  You shake the Blizzie cup until your drink becomes slushie, usually within a minute or two depending on what beverage you used and how cold the beverage was when you poured it into the cup.  If you’re using a carbonated beverage like soda, you’ll have to alternate between shaking and venting so it doesn’t overflow the cup.  It’s really that simple, fast, and fun to turn every day drinks into something special!

Elizabeth, my 9 year old daughter, has been the Blizzie expert around here.  She loves serving guests with her latest slushie concoction. I love that we can use healthy juices and drinks in place for sugary slushies and that I know what exactly goes into each drink.  It’s also a big plus that it doesn’t require batteries or electricity to operate and the Blizzie slushie maker is so easy to use that even my two and four year old daughters have a blast making their own slushies.   Clean up is minimal as you can place all parts into the dishwasher to clean except for the freezer cubes that you rinse off in hot water and place back into the freezer for next time.  I need to stock up on a few as my kids are always waiting for their turn to enjoy a homemade slushie!

Where to Buy: You can purchase the Blizzie for $14.95 with free shipping at www.myblizzie.com.
