Magic Bullet Express Giveaway!

When I was a new mom, I relied on jarred food to feed my baby.  By the time my second baby was born, I had decided to make my own baby food as it was a cheaper and healthier alternative to jarred baby food.  My babies preferred my homemade baby food over the jar variety anyway and I look forward to making my own baby food for my current baby, Patience, when she’s ready.  Over time, I learned to be creative and come up with tasty food combinations that they would eat up in no time.   I’m sure there’s many you that have made your own homemade baby food and concocted tasty recipes that your baby happily devoured and Magic Bullet would love for you to share them in their Magic Bullet – Bullet Express “Baby Food” Recipes Contest!  You can win a Magic Bullet Express for simply sharing your best baby food recipe!  If you don’t have a baby food recipe in mind, you can visit the Magic Bullet’s Facebook Page for inspiration as well as take a look through yummy recipes you can whip up in a Magic Bullet!

  4. Debra F says:

I used to make baby food for my sons when they were babies. I would keep it simple….I would cook carrots and food process them to mush – same with peas. I’d also cook ground beef or chicken and grind them too. Then I’d mix them together and it would be a perfect meal with no preservatives!

    Beets – Basic Purée

1 bunch of fresh beets, golden beets have a milder flavor

    1. Wash then peel the beets (be sure to cut off the tops.) and then cut the beets into small chunks
    2. Place chunks into a steamer pan with just enough water visible through the steamer basket. You may also boil them in a scant amount of water if you prefer.
    3. Steam until tender
    4. Do not reserve any left over water to use for thinning out the beets as Nitrates may seep into the cooking water
    5. Place into Magic Bullet begin pureeing.
    6. Add water as necessary to achieve a smooth, thin consistency.

You can cook the greens and serve like spinage. Also add some apple or pear to sweeten the beets

    Tiny Tummy Thanksgiving:

Even little ones love to celebrate thanksgiving. Unfortunately they’re often too small to dig into the food on the grown-ups table. This baby food recipe blends the flavors of Thanksgiving in an easy to swallow style.

    1. Thoroughly wash a sweet potato. Puncture the potato with a fork, wrap, and microwave 5-6 minutes. Potato should be tender. The sweet potato can also be baked if you so choose.

    2. Peel the potato. (The skin should pull away from the sweet potato easily.)

    3. Cute the sweet potato into cubes.

    4. Place diced sweet potato into Magic Bullet Express.

    4. Add 2-4 ounces of apple juice (or your child’s favorite – pear also works well).

    5. Puree the sweet potato in your Magic Bullet Express until it is the consistency of smooth applesauce.

    6. Mix in some oatmeal cereal or pasteurized vanilla yogurt until desired consistency is reached.

    Dish it out and enjoy!

    Makes 2-3 Servings.

Take 1/2 banana, 1/2 apple and puree until smooth. Add to baby oatmeal or feed your baby the mixture alone as his/her fruit. You can add a baby carrot to the apple and banana mixture to puree but, please make sure that your child doesn’t have any allergies to carrots.

    Thank you for the giveaway!

  18. barbara wright says:

My kids loved this combination of apple and avocado:
Apple ‘Cado (4)6-8months+ babies age 4 to 6 months old

    Ingredients:

1/2 of a peeled and pitted avocado
    1/4 cup applesauce

    Directions:

Mash the avocado. Mix with applesauce and serve.

    Yumm!

  19. susan smoaks says:

Pears babies age 4 to 6 months old
    Vitamins: A, C, Folate
    Minerals: Potassium, Phosphorus, Magnesium, Calcium

    Ingredients:

2 ripe pears (Bartlett, Red or Comice)

Directions: Steam gently until tender if baby is between 4-6 months old otherwise peel & mash – removing the seed portion

Peel and cut into chunks so as to avoid the little seed portion.

    Or,

Cut the pears in half (no need to peel unless your little one has issues with digestion) and cut out the seed/core portion then dice the pear halves.

Bring 1 cup of water to a boil in a shallow pot with a steamer basket insert.
Add the pears to the steamer basket in the pot and then steam until soft and tender.

You may also add the pear dices to wee bit of boiling water and steam them this way if you do not have a steamer basket. Using a scant amount of water ensures that you are not boiling them.

Peel and cut into chunks so as to avoid the little seed portion.

Place in a blender/food processor and puree until smooth. You may be able to just use a fork too.

Use the leftover cooking water if needed but Pears tend to be very runny and watery without adding liquid. Add some baby cereal to thicken if needed.
