Through the Mom Trials: Living in a household full of little ones, our hardwood floors and rugs are in constant need of attention from crumbs and dirt they track around the house. The Hoover Platinum Collection Cordless Stick Vac is a stylish, modern looking vacuum that combines full size, upright vacuum cabilities with the convenience of a battery powered vacuum. The stick vac is lightweight, weighing a little over 7 lbs., making it easy and effortless to take it out of the closet to clean up messes in a jiffy. It’s light enough that my five year old son and eight year old daughter have no trouble or difficulty using and operating the vacuum. The vacuum maneuvers from hard floor to rugs and back with ease using the button brush roll switch located on the handle. The vacuum handle fully reclines and with its low base, edge cleaning brushes, and curved head design allows the machine to access hard to reach areas. When you’re done vacuuming, this vacuum is so small and compact that it takes nothing to find a spot to store it in your pantry, broom closet, or other area with limited space.
I love that this stick vac is bagless, saving me money and that the dirt cup allows me to dump its contents without getting my hands dirty. There’s a button located on the bottom of the dirt cup that you push and it opens the dirt cup. When you’ve disposed of the dirt and debris, you simply snap it back shut. Replacing the filter is a cinch too and their are useful maintenance directions right on the vacuum itself. The freedom from tangling cords is a big plus too, especially when I have a young toddler who likes to follow me wherever I go and has a tendency to trip over the vacuum cord.
The Hoover Stick Vac comes with a 18 volt lithium ion battery that uses an energy saving battery charger that plugs into the wall and charges within 3 hours. Even though it’s battery powered, the suction on this little vacuum exceeded my expectations and performed like a champ! From tiny specks of dust to pet hair and large chunks of food, it was all sucked up easily and was contained in the dirt cup. I found that you have to fully charge the battery in between uses to ensure that the battery doesn’t die prematurely while you’re in the middle of vacuuming. This stick vacuum is ideal for those who live in small spaces or for those who frequently have small messes to clean up on a daily basis.
