Heat Up Your Woodstove or Fireplace with Duraflame Stax Review and Giveaway!
Giveaways | admin | January 27, 2010 at 7:10 amWith Winter still lingering on, how cozy and inviting it is to have a hot fire heating up your home! Duraflame has introduced a new kind of firelog that brands itself as the New Generation of Firelogs called Duraflame Stax. These firelogs are made from 100% renewable resources and a bundle of 3 Stax firelogs (10.8 lbs) produces a fire that is equivalent to burning a 5-6 log bundle (25-30 lbs) of firewood. They burn cleaner than wood (in fact, 50 percent less emissions than an equivalent wood fire) and starting a fire couldn’t be made easier without the use of kindling or any other fire starter! The firelogs also have the ability to be stacked and used in woodstoves as well as fireplaces.
Since we heat our home the old-fashioned way with oil, it can get pretty expensive to keep our house warm without the use of our woodstove. With that comes the hard work of chopping up kindling and firewood, cleaning up the mess from wood shavings and ashes, and hauling the heavy wood logs into the house, not to mention having to deal with the occasional wood splinters that injure your hands. With Stax firelogs, a fire couldn’t be more simpler and convenient to enjoy! All you have to do in order to enjoy a night long fire is to stack and cross together two Stax firelogs in your woodstove and light the paper it’s wrapped in. From there, the fire will burn all night and produce much more heat than regular wood logs. My husband and I were amazed that a 3 pack bundle would last through out the night and didn’t have to wake up early to put more logs in to keep the fire going!
Check out how easy it is to start a fire with Duraflame Stax:
Where to Buy: You can purchase Duraflame Stax for $9.99 for a bundle of 3 Stax firelogs or $19.99 for a bundle of 6 Stax firelogs at most retail stores including Target and K-Mart.

Stax logs are made of sawdust, agricultural fibers and non-petroleum renewable waxes and oils; we are not aware of any ingredients that would cause a chemically toxic reaction should your pet consume a small amount of these products. However, the wood fibers in the product are not digestible. Depending on how much of the log is eaten, your pet may become constipated or have an upset stomach. If you have a small pet or the pet has eaten a large amount of the product you should consult a veterinarian as the pet may experience complications with its digestive system. We can send your vet a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) by fax if they require that information

Can I roast marshmallows or cook other food over Stax logs?
No, stax logs were not designed to be a cooking fuel, and might leave a bad taste on food directly cooked over the logs.

Adding wood to a burning firelog can cause the log to break apart resulting in a sudden increased burn rate or flare up.

Birds have particularly sensitive lungs and circulation systems, so they can be quite sensitive to slight changes in heat and air conditions. For these reasons, please keep pet birds far away from the fireplace

I learned that the logs have less energy than traditional firelogs, and remain solid while burning, so you can burn more than one at a time.
Thank you for the giveaway!

Stax logs contain a patented, safe, all natural additive that provide the natural crackling sound of a wood fire as it burns.
February 7th, 2010 at 6:29 am
I learned that it is not recommended that duraflame® firelogs be used as starter materials for a wood fire. A duraflame® firelog provides more fuel content than necessary to start a wood fire. However, duraflame® markets quick start® and firestart® natural wood firelighters, which are made from similar materials and are specifically designed to light wood fires.

Duraflame® firelogs are Underwriter Laboratories (UL) Classified for use in zero-clearance manufactured metal fireplaces and are suitable for use in all types of traditional open hearth fireplaces. Duraflame® firelogs should not be burned in wood stoves or wood stove fireplace inserts. Check for the UL-Classification mark on the package before buying. For more information about the wide range of fireplaces available today, visit the HearthNet web site.
