Meet the Company:

My name is Melanie Hurley, founder of Piggy Paint™. I am a stay-at-home mom with two very fancy little girls, ages 2 and 4, who love to have their fingernails painted. I’ve always hated the thought of my kiddos putting their hands in their mouths after I painted their nails with traditional kid polishes. Not only did the ingestion of the chemicals worry me, but the smell nearly left me light-headed after painting two sets of fingernails and toenails.

One day while we were painting nails over a foam plate, my daughter dropped a glob of her solvent-based polish onto the plate. Shortly after, the paint began to bubble and “ate” through the plate. I looked in dismay at the hole in the plate and decided to test all of her other “kid” polishes on the foam. Within minutes, ALL of the solvent-based polishes began to bubble and eventually left big holes in the plate. From that day on, I decided that any flammable substance that could eat through foam was unacceptable for my children’s fingernails, which would inevitably end up in their mouths.

My quest was on, and Piggy Paint™ was born. As you may have guessed, our polish is NOT flammable and sits beautifully on the unaffected foam. We hope you enjoy this water-based polish that is specially formulated of natural ingredients. Finally, a kid-friendly polish without the accompanying drawbacks of traditional polishes. It is free of formaldehyde, toluene, phthalates, biphenyl A, ethyl acetate and acetone… and made in the USA!

From my heart to yours, I hope Piggy Paint™ takes the worry out of painting your little one’s nails and puts the fun back into this enjoyable activity you can share with your daughter and other precious girls in your life.

Through the Mom Trials:  As a mother and woman, I love the look of painted nails but refused to wear nail polish because the thought of putting harmful and chemical laden fingernails in my baby’s mouth horrified me.  The same goes with having my little girls wear the same toxic nail polish who are prone to put their own little fingers in their mouths.  As much as I would love for us to wear nail polish, the risks and dangers wasn’t worth it for this mom.  That’s why I was so relieved and thankful to come across Piggy Paint!

Piggy Paint was created by a mother who also had the same fears and concerns I did about kids nail polish.  She created a line of non toxic nail polish and nail polish remover that’s kid friendly and simply put, safe as mud!  It’s hypoallergenic with no odor and is free from formaldehyde, toluene, phthalates, biphenyl A, ethyl acetate and acetone that you’ll find in most nail polishes on the market.   We received the Chicks Rule nail polish as well as their nail polish remover.

My kids are overjoyed that they are finally able to paint their little piggies!  The Chicks Rule nail polish is a lovely purplish pink color that glistens beautifully.  Piggy Paint also comes in many other kid pleasing colors with girly touches like sparkles added to them.  I even wear Piggy Paint myself and have been satisfied with the fantastic colors they come in.  It applies nicely onto your nails and dries to a nice, shiny finish.  Not only are our nails looking pretty, but we can feel good that we aren’t putting anything harmful on our bodies.

The polish application lasts for days and when it’s time to renew or change the color of your polish, the nail polish remover works quickly and efficiently to remove the old polish.  I like that I don’t have to stand near a window to get away from harsh, chemical fumes and because the remover contains aloe vera extract and vitamin E, it doesn’t dry out our nails and helps protect our nails and cuticles.  We are thrilled with Piggy Paint so much that we went ahead and bought some in my girl’s favorite colors (Forever Fancy Pink and Dandelion Dance Yellow) as well as a couple bottles for gifts (Ice Cream Dream  Blue and Glass Slipper).
