Body Cleanse

I hope you all had a lovely Easter weekend!  Holidays just seem to whip by us so fast.  I can’t hardly believe this past weekend is over.  We had so much activity going on we didn’t get much time to even think.  Between the church service, egg hunts, family get togethers, and egg decorating, it seemed to pass by in a whirlwind but we all had a wonderful time together in each other’s company!

Now that it’s Monday, it’s time to start our cleanse.  Dustin and I had decided we are going to undergo a four month cleanse through the McCombs plan since his blood pressure it through the roof and has been suffering of chronic sinus infections lately.  I also haven’t been my normal healthy self since my last bout of antibiotics and there’s no better time than Spring to begin anew and now you get to read about my trials and tribulations through my four month journey!

The cleanse plan doesn’t seem as strict as some that are available and that Dustin has previously tried.  We can eat all meats with the exception of pork, any vegetable, all fruits except for oranges, brown rice, coffee, tea, braggs seasoning, spices, and herbs.  We can’t eat are grains, yeast, sugar, dried fruit, juices, vinegars, soy sauce, dairy, etc.  We also have to intake 1 quart of water per 50 lbs of body weight and sweat it out for six days a week through hot baths with or saunas.   Although I’m not thrilled to be commited to a four month cleanse, I know I need it and with the right mind set, it will be  a piece of cake and I know the health benefits will be worth it!

For our first day, I cooked up some hot brown rice cereal and added chopped apples and cinnamon as well as whipped up a fruit smoothie with my Vita-Mix that included bananas, blueberries, raspberries, apples, and water.  The hot cereal was bland but I motivated myself to take more bites and finish it by making sure there was apple in every bite.   In between, I’d gulp down my smoothie and managed to get down three cups of water out of the way by the time my breakfast was gone.   I have to take nine supplements in the morning, five by lunch time, and nine at dinner.

When lunch time rolled around, I was thankful we had some cooked steaks ready as I am unbelievably hungry today!  Even with the plain brown rice cakes I ate after breakfast, I didn’t stay satisfied or full for long.  I chopped that up and put together a salad with romaine, spinach, a mixture of bell peppers, cucumbers, cilantro, carrots, and purple onion.  I also made my own dressing out of lemon, garlic, salt, pepper, and olive oil.  The garlic was a bit strong so I will cut down on that the next time I make it.  Other than that, it was pretty good!  I also got my other three glasses of water in which left two more to meet my quota for the day.

I couldn’t wait until dinner!   I baked up some halibut that I marinated with Braggs Liquid Aminos seasoning, salt, pepper, lemon juice, and olive oil and the smell got to me the whole time it was baking.  I was starving and my tummy growled in anticipation!  I also sliced potatoes into wedges and seasoned them with salt, pepper, rosemary, and olive oil and roasted them in the oven.  Then I put some mixed veggies in the steamer to cook.   It was a fairly good meal and I know that in order to be successful, I’ll have to put more effort in devising a meal plan and planning ahead and keeping snacks we’re allowed to eat on hand.

I have been dizzy and light headed all day from only the first day of this cleanse.  I do hope tomorrow is much better and I won’t feel as if I’m bloated and starving, lol.  I haven’t had to use the bathroom this much since I’ve been pregnant thanks to all the water I’m required to drink.  I think one of the only things helping me on the first day is that I can still drink coffee even though I don’t enjoy it much without the half and half and syrup!  Maybe I’ll actually end up liking it black.  Doubtful, but you never know.  I’m counting down the days until the nineth week when I can introduce dried fruit, fruit juice, vinegar, soy sauce, legumes, nuts, and popcorn back into my diet!  And the cleanse continues…

wow, this sounds amazing Jaqueline! It sounds like just the thing my body needs, although it sounds hard! I’ll have to check out the website you linked to as I’m still nursing and wonder if it’s okay for nursing moms? I may have to wait a little longer ;)
