Now making your grocery list becomes high tech! You no longer need to waste paper, make sure you have a pencil or pen handy, or keep track of your list when you plan for your next grocery shopping excursion. The SmartShopper is an electronic device complete with voice recognition so you can speak into the device to add things to your list. There are close to 2500 grocery items already preloaded into the database and all you do is press the blue record button and tell it what item you’d like to put on your list.
When you name an item, it gives you three choices of what it believes you are saying and you select the right one to add. Sometimes you really have to enunciate what you are saying, especially if there is background noise because it’s sensitive enough to pick up all the sounds around you. There is also an item improvement recognition feature so if what you’re saying doesn’t register on the screen, you can make adjustments by rerecording the item with your voice so it does recognize what you are saying. I’ve only had to do this a couple times and is well worth the few extra moments to do so.
If you can’t find something specifically in the SmartShopper’s library, you can input items verbally as well by spelling it out for the electronic grocery list maker. You can double check the list of items stored on the device in the accompanying booklet that comes with it so you can make sure you’re not adding something already included in the database. You can also add what quantity you need for certain items and flag what items you have coupons for. Running errands is a breeze now too because you can also keep track of your errands on it!
I love that this gadget comes with a magnetic backing so I can conveniently affix it to my fridge without having to mount it on the wall. I also like the freedom of being able to customize my list whenever I need to whether it’s to add a particular item or delete something on the list that I no longer need through out the week before I set out to shop. That means no more writing several lists down before I’m ready to go grocery shopping that will get scattered and lost. When I’m ready to head out, you simply press the print button and your list comes out nicely organized in categories where you’d most likely find those items grouped together in your store saving you much needed time while you shop. This is an exciting find for the list crazed mother like myself!
