Soap Nuts: A Natural Alternative to Modern Chemical Detergents!

I’m sure you’re wondering what in the world is soap nuts! Soap nuts (unlike its name) is actually a fruit from a tree found in India, Indonesia, and Nepal that is harvested, de-seeded, and dried in the sun without any chemicals or unnatural substances. These soap nuts have been used for centuries to clean all kinds of fabrics by using the natural saponin found in the outer shell of these fruits. They are organically grown and gentle on clothes and skin making it a suitable choice for those that suffer from allergies, eczema, and psoriasis. Soap nuts are biodegradable which makes it better for the environment than most laundry detergents and antimicrobial which makes it good for septic and greywater systems!
I was like many of you and was intrigued by the idea that a fruit could clean my laundry that I had to try it out myself! It sounded great especially since it’s supposed to be wonderful for those that deal with eczema like we do, but I wanted to know if they actually worked. Thanks to Lisa from Laundry Tree, I was able to test out these soap nuts and share my thoughts with you about this awesome product. What I found was that not only did it effectively clean my clothes but that it also softened them enough to be able to skip using a fabric softener. The laundry came out smelling fresh and I particularly liked the scent of the energy essential oil blend left on my clothes and towels. A bonus to this is that you can reuse the soap nuts up to four times and once they’ve been used up, can be tossed straight into your compost pile. I also didn’t notice any new break outs on Liberty or myself that was associated to this biodegradable laundry cleanser. I’ve been so impressed with my findings and how clean my laundry is by using this product that I’ve already made a purchase for more soap nuts!

How would you like to try this natural alternative to modern chemical detergents? Laundry Tree has offered my Blessings Abound readers a chance to win a starter kit complete with 100 g of soap nuts, your choice of what essential oil or fragrance oil you’d like, an extra wash bag, and sample bag) to two winners!!! A low cost, green eco friendly, healthy natural way to bathe, do laundry, and clean just about anything is to make a homemade liquid from soapberry which grows on the Chinaberry tree and has been used for thousands of years. It works very effectively.

This SOAP NUT cleaner is new to me. I have found cedar oil stops moths and recently a blend of credar, cinnamon and cloves repels snakes. Peppermint oil repels ants. Natural ways to clean and sanitize are out there for us to discover.
